Secrets Capri
Riviera Cancun
January 2006

This luxurious 24 hour All Inclusive Adults Only (18 or older) resort is by far the best resort I have visited to date. The resort has the charm of a Mexican hacienda with a Mediterranean flare and is very intimate. In fact, the resort boasts 290 finely appointed suites & rooms.

All suites and rooms offer superior amenities including a private and furnished balcony or patio, full Italian marble bathrooms with a jetted whirlpool Jacuzzi tub, a separate shower, a sound system with an in house music system, a CD/DVD player, a 27” satellite television and an internet data port.

Every floor offers a private concierge. The four-poster canopy king beds or two double beds are very comfortable. The room also offers bathrobes, slippers, twice daily maid service, a coffee/tea maker, mini-bar (refreshed daily) and an in-room safe.

The categories of rooms offered at Secrets Capri are Deluxe, Deluxe Oceanview, Junior Suites & Presidential Suites. The rooms are beautiful and very spacious. The entire room has marble floors. Twenty-four complimentary room service has a great selection of food & beverages and also offers a pillow menu.

Secrets Capri is situated on a 1,000 foot beach of white sugary sand. The beach is beautiful and wide open. They offer bar service at the beach which was a real treat. Watersports are offered at the resort and do not interfere with the beach bums & swimmers.

There are plenty of lounge chairs & umbrellas free of charge. As I stepped into the water, I noticed there were some rocky areas but never bothered me as other beaches in the area have. This was by far, the best beach in the Riviera Maya.

The resort also boasts a vanishing edge dual-temperature gigantic pool which is located between the beach and hotel. It is designed very well. One side of the pool is deeper and offers swimming and lounging while the other side of the pool offers watersports and a swim up pool bar. A bridge goes over the pool in the middle so guests do not have to walk around the pool. There are plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas and it never felt crowded at the resort.

The resort also offers scuba, snorkeling, a full service spa (The Spa Garden) which offers more than 30 restorative services, treatments and hydro therapies and a state of the art fitness center with a full array of cardio and conditioning equipment.

This resort also offers a welcome cocktail, cool towel upon check in, nightly entertainment, theme nights, tennis courts & clinics, jogging track, kayaks, sailing, windsurfing, Euro-Bungee,, water aerobics, beach volleyball, billiards, archery, bocce ball, deep sea fishing (fee), dance classes, yoga, an oceanfront wedding gazebo & complimentary shuttle service to Playa del Carmen. You also receive unlimited green fees at Pok-Ta-Pok 18 hole golf course through June 2006. Additionally, honeymooners receive a complimentary honeymoon package which includes sparkling wine, fresh fruit, nightly turn down service, 15% off spa treatments, late check out, one romantic dinner for 2 and one champagne breakfast in bed. For those having their wedding at the resort, they offer something even better. Just book an oceanfront junior suite or better with a minimum stay of 7 nights and have your wedding free. Restrictions apply.

I certainly enjoyed the restaurants. There are five gourmet restaurants which include Capri (Mediterranean), The Oceana (Seafood), Himitsu (Pan Asian & Hibachi), La Riviera (International Specialties) & The Seaside Grill (great views). The Seaside Grill has the best cheeseburgers & fried calamari in Mexico. My father in-law agreed. Reservations are never required and each restaurant had an extensive selection of premium wines and spirits with no limits. The buffets for breakfast, lunch & diner offered numerous different selections all of which were top quality. Service was excellent.

The resort is smaller than some resorts which made it very easy to get around. There were elevators in excellent working conditions conveniently located. I never got lost or couldn’t find my way which happens at the big resorts. Bartenders and other employees began to recognize me and remember my name. This was especially gratifying. This is an upscale resort that has a very relaxed atmosphere. Secrets Capri Rivera Cancun is rated a 6 Golden Apple Resort and deserves it.
